Why are my Brakes squealing?

Well, we mentioned that the high pitched squeal is a warning. The next step is metal on metal contact. When you start to hear a louder grinding noise, which probably sounds terrible, you need to bring your vehicle in as soon as possible. The louder grinding sound means that brake failure could happen at any moment because your rotors are being ground away. Other Causes
Squealing brakes are not always a sign of brake wear. Brake pads also commonly encounter high amounts of humidity and moisture which cause a layer of rust to form on the exterior of the brake pad. The squeaking is partially the rust making contact and being worn off. If a vehicle has been sitting for a significant amount of time, especially in a humid climate, the brake wear can be worse. Squealing brakes after a week’s vacation should go away after a few miles. Squealing brakes after sitting for a lot longer can cause more significant issues.
